Cesar plays Friends by Joe Satriani

May 16th, 2007

Friends is the first track on Joe Satriani’s album The Extremist. It was released in 1992 and is his most commercially successful album to date. The album is critically acclaimed and considered an instrumental rock classic.

The song Friends, renowned for its anthem style, is known for the use of the harmonics method by Satriani. The chord progression is from D major, to A Major to B minor to D major again. Joe plays the song using a Drop D alternate tuning so he needs to use a different guitar when performing the track for live audiences.

The guitarist in the video, Cesar Huesc, is from Mexico. He has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old. Cesar is working as a guitarist with several bands and projects, currently playing with a covers band and a jazz fusion band. He also has some original projects with different songwriters and recording artists.
