March 11th, 2007We have all seen Eruption played by every wanna-be-guitar-hero on every video website. This particular version played by Terry Lauderdale, stands out as one of the best.
About Terrry:
He is currecntly playing in the Van Halen cover band Hot for Teacher. The band has performed for thousands of Van Halen fans and at numerous venues throughout West Coast. In between his busy Hot for Teacher schedule, Terry also plays with the classic rock cover band Fast Eddie and continues to write original music for his hard rock band, Acid Tongue.
Eruption:
Eruption is an instrumental guitar solo written and performed by Eddie Van Halen on Van Halen’s first self-titled album. Released in 1978, it is considered one of the most influential guitar solos of all time. Eruption was the first prominent appearance of several innovative and well-honed techniques, earning Edward Van Halen the official status of “guitar god”.
When performing live before the release of their first album, Eddie would place his back to the audience to prevent other guitarists from stealing “his” technique. His brother Alex had warned him that other guitarists would “rob him blind” if his tricks were exposed before a major album release. Afterward he was indeed emulated by millions, but was comfortable displaying his techniques once credit had been firmly established on vinyl. [Source: Wikipedia.org]
